Birmingham Moseley Sporting Village — a venue site built around the enquiry

Birmingham Moseley's sporting village hosts seven very different kinds of event, each with its own kind of buyer. We built a site that gives every one of them a front door, and points all of them at a single enquiry.

The situation

Birmingham Moseley Rugby Club has a genuine events business sitting inside a genuine sports village: conference space, function rooms, free parking, in-house catering, and room that a city-centre hotel can't match at the same price. The brief was to give that business a site built around the way people actually buy it.

That turns out to be the interesting part. The village hosts seven distinct kinds of event, and the people booking them have almost nothing in common except the building. A company booking a 200-person conference, a family arranging a wake, and a couple looking at a wedding venue each arrive with a different question, and each deserves an answer written for them.

So the build starts from the buyer:

  • each event type gets its own page, written for the person searching for that specific thing;
  • the club's real advantage leads from the top: space, parking, catering, a working sports village;
  • the venue is shown through dedicated spaces, facilities and gallery sections;
  • and every route through the site ends at the same place: an enquiry.

What we built

  1. 01

    Seven event types, seven front doors

    The village hosts conferences, away-days, meetings, sporting events, parties, weddings and wakes. Someone arranging a wake and someone booking a team-building day are not the same buyer and are not in the same frame of mind, so each event type gets its own page, written for the person actually searching for that thing.

  2. 02

    Leading with what the village has that a hotel doesn't

    The club's advantage is that it isn't a city-centre conference suite. It's a working sports village with space, free parking and in-house catering. The homepage puts that front and centre with "more than four walls and a projector", and the rest of the page is built to earn the claim.

  3. 03

    Every path ends at the enquiry

    The enquiry is the conversion event, so it stays one click away. It holds the header at every breakpoint, closes every event page, and anchors the homepage. Wherever a visitor lands and whatever they came for, the next step is always in reach.

  4. 04

    The venue, shown

    Dedicated spaces, facilities and gallery sections let the venue sell itself. For an events buyer, seeing the room is most of the decision.
